The need to represent Consumer Management data consistently across the digitalCLINIC™ System is essential to efficient data entry and unambiguous data retrieval. Much of the usability of a system comes from the degree of recognition and association stimulated in the user by the data representation. The interface is designed so that a particular data type is presented with the same label or caption throughout the application. Formatted entries, such as dates, have a consistent representation.

Where closed data entry is required, that is, where the user's choice of entry is constrained to particular selections, the selections are presented in a uniform fashion. Consistent field labeling and formatting, and well-constructed data field formats, ease the task of data entry and make it more reliable. Coercion of names, addresses, dates of birth and similar data entities to standard forms ease inquiry matching and improve data quality over time, although the need for sophisticated matching and disambiguation algorithms, such as those that are embodied in the digitalCLINIC™ System "front end", will never be completely eliminated.
